Grabado de Erhard Altdorfer en la portada de la Biblia de Lutero impresa en Lübeck en 1533-34 por Ludwig Dietz, aunque el diseño debió de hacerse en la década de 1520. Aparece también en los frontispicios del Antiguo y el Nuevo Testamento (Foto 2A), y más tarde se reutilizó en la Matthew's Bible inglesa de 1537 (cf. Foto: https://library.garrett.edu/sites/default/files/rare-bible-exhibit/Matthew/Matthews_Page_2.jpg), en ediciones inglesas del Nuevo Testamento (Foto 2C) en la primera edición en danés de la Biblia (1550), la Biblia de Christian III de la Biblioteca Real de Dinamarca (véase FICHA nº 220: https://juliomontanes.synology.me/bases/anunciaciones/index.php?-table=anunciaciones&-action=browse&-cursor=219) y en otras Biblias posteriores (Foto 2D).

No se trata exactamente de una Anunciación con Niño (no están ni el ángel ni la Paloma) sino de una adaptación de la iconografía para representar alegóricamente el misterio de la Redención basándose en la teología luterana de la Ley y el Evangelio. Un gran árbol de Jessé divide la imagen en dos mitades. A la izquierda escenas del Antiguo Testamento y a la derecha escenas del Nuevo. En el lado derecho, en la parte superior, aparece María arrodillada y en actitud de oración esperando al Niño que desciende entre rayos de luz, con nimbo crucífero y llevando la cruz como en las Anunciaciones.
