Virgen embarazada en madera dorada y policromada de procedencia catalana (Girona, finales del siglo XV), vendida por la casa de subastas parisina Drouot en septiembre de 2019 como una Virgen de la Anunciación [1]. Podría tratarse de una Virgen de la Esperanza aislada, pero el gesto de saludo apunta a que habría formado parte de una Anunciación y la espalda sin tallar indica que fue pensada para estar en una hornacina o adosada a un pilar o a un muro.

Also known as “Virgen de la Cinta” (sic.) or “Esperanza” (Hope), or “Our Lady of the O”, this name corresponds to the images of Mary whose carving portrays a state of gravity. Magnificent sculpture which shows the sweet expectation of Mary on hearing that she will be a mother. Giving blessing with her right hand, while an unequivocal gesture brings her left hand to her pregnant belly. She is standing, wearing rich, courtly dress. Height: 150 cm.
