"
Gulliver and the English, according to Hogarth, have been grossly exploited, basely abused, and subjected to unspeakable indignities by their leaders. In their childlike innocence and respect for authority, Gulliver and the English have failed to recognize their strength or their ability to rebel against Britain's petty tyrants. Hogarth has encouraged us, then, to approach the text of Gulliver's Travels with a specific partisan point of view, a preconceived notion of what we shall find and how we should interpret the events described".
